Langport Surgery First Covid-19 Vaccination update: Week ending 9 May 2021 (next update will be on Wednesday 17 May)

Langport Surgery is part of the Chard, Langport and Ilminster Primary Care Network (CLICK PCN)* We are working through the vaccination programe as a network. You may be invited to a clinic locally, in Ilminster, Chard or to one of the large vaccination centres at Taunton Racecourse or the Bath and West Showgroud. Please accept the first vaccination appointment you are given if at all possible.

Please do not contact us about your vaccination. We are working through the priority groups in order and will contact you when we reach your priority group. As we are notified of further deliveries we will plan further clinics. We aim to keep this page updated weekly so you know where we are on the priority group list.

Please also be aware that the clinics are being run from Dillington House in Ilminster due to the nature of storage/handling and logistics. Staff from Langport Surgery are heavily involved in staffing these clinics in Ilminster both clinically and administratively so you may notice an impact on our usual service as we take on this additional workload on top of the already busy day-job. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Updated guidance on wearing a facemask when entering Langport Surgery

The latest infection control guidance from Somerset CCG asks that patients wear a surgical facemask when entering a GP Practice. The reason for this is that they are proven to be most effective in protecting against the spread of COVID-19.
We therefore politely ask that, from now on, patients wear a surgical facemask rather than a fabric/homemade face covering or scarf. Surgical facemasks are now widely available to purchase in shops and online.

Our priority is to protect patients and staff from contracting and spreading the virus. Help us to STOP THE SPREAD.

Please do not come to the surgery if you have a cough OR temperature OR loss of/change in smell or taste

Patients with a cough AND/OR high temperature AND/OR loss of/change in smell or taste but otherwise feeling well should self-isolate for 10 days at home and look at the guidance on NHS 111 online

Patients with a cough AND/OR high temperature AND/OR loss of/change in smell or taste who are not feeling well should seek advice on NHS 111 online and if symptoms are severe you should dial ‘111’ for advice.

If you need an appointment for anything other than Coronavirus you can use our online consultation service. The clinician will decide if you need to be seen face to face. If you do not have internet access call reception on 01458 250464.

Medication Ordering

Please do not come to the surgery if you have a cough OR temperature OR loss of/change in smell or taste

Our dispensary team are working harder than ever to prepare your medication. Please bear with us and be kind to the team.
We are asking all patients to help us to assist the elderly and vulnerable patients by doing the following:

1. Please order your medication using the NHS APP or Patient Access. You can download the NHS app from any smartphone and you can verify your identity without coming to the surgery. If you don’t have a smartphone but you do have internet access you can use patient access. Log in or sign up to Patient Access. You will need to verify your identity with the reception team to register for this service. Bringing paper orders to the surgery increases risk to you and our staff. PLEASE order online wherever possible.

2. ONLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS OR A SMARTPHONE you can call the repeat line to order your medication. We are prioritising this for the elderly and vulnerable so please only use this line if you really have to. 01458 253253. Opening times for the repeat line are Monday-Friday 9.30-11am and 3-4.30pm.

3. PLEASE DO NOT request extra medication or request your medication early.  We are prescribing usual orders of ONE month and requests should be made no more than one week in advance.  Requests outside of this will not be processed to make ordering fair for all patients.

Medication Collection

Please do not come to the surgery if you have a cough OR temperature OR loss of/change in smell or taste

Medication will be available for collection 3 working days after the request has been made. Please do not call the surgery to check if your medication is ready.

Ask someone to collect on your behalf if you have a cough and/or temperature and/or loss of/change in smell or taste. If this is not possible then we ask that you wait OUTSIDE THE SURGERY, in your car if possible and call the surgery on 01458 250464 to let our dispensary know that you are here and a member of the team will bring the medication outside to you. You will need to make payment over the phone first if applicable. A member of the Langport Surgery team will sign the back of your prescription as proof of collection. Please only follow this instruction on collecting medication if you have symptoms of a cough and/or temperature and/or loss of/change in smell or taste.

If you are well and collecting medication from the Surgery, we are asking that you pay by contactless methods wherever possible. A member of the Langport Surgery team will sign the back of your prescription for you to reduce risk
